Dealing With a Car Wreck in Atlanta, Georgia

Car wrecks are surprising, unpleasant events and whether you live in Atlanta, outside of Atlanta or anywhere else in Georgia, the Southeast or the United States, the experience of being a victim in a car crash is similar. If you have been in a car wreck in Atlanta, you are most likely having to deal with the damage to your car and possible personal injuries.

I am going to skip the checklist of things to do immediately after an Atlanta, Georgia car wreck as they have been addressed in a previous blog entry and talk about what to do in the following days, weeks and months. If you are hurt or feel that you are hurt, get checked out by a Doctor or go to the hospital. If you are hurt or claim you are hurt from the car crash and you do not have medical records to back it up, it will make it more difficult to pursue an injury claim related to the car accident with the at fault party's or your own insurance company in the case of a hit & run or if the other driver is uninsured or underinsured.

If you are given a referral to a doctor who is a specialist like and orthopedist or a neurologist, schedule an appointment, see the doctor and do not miss follow up appointments. Gaps in treatment are very damaging to your injury claim and remember, the claimant has the burden of proving to the insurance company and if a lawsuit is filed that reaches trial, to a jury, that they were hurt in the car wreck and are deserving of money damages. If the decision makers are not convinced that you are hurt, your chances of recovering any money will be diminished.

Stay tuned for additional thoughts about this and related car accident matters.

Car Accident? Checklist Of Things To Do

It is inevitable, whether you live or travel in a busy, urban area like Atlanta or slower pace rural area anywhere else in Georgia, car accidents are going to happen. They are emotionally trying and upsetting, but you need to keep your composure and make sure you do the the following things, whether the car crash happens in Atlanta or any part of Georgia.

If you have a cell phone, use it and call the police. They will come to the car accident scene and survey the incident to determine who, if any to issue a traffic citation to. If the car accident was not your fault, you will definitely want a police report generated and will want to obtain a copy of it for your records in case you need to file a property damage or injury claim. Be sure to take pictures of the property damage to your car and the other person's car.

If you are hurt in the car accident, get medical attention and follow up with your primary care doctor for subsequent treatment.

This list of things to do after a car accident is not exhaustive, but hits the major points.
