Multi Car Wreck In South Georgia Injures Fifteen

A serious wreck involving multiple vehicles occurred Thursday afternoon near the border of Miller and Decatur Counties on U.S 27 North in Miller County, which is in south Georgia. According to reports, the crash involved a semi-trailer truck, a school bus, a pickup truck and a Mini-van.

Six people were so seriously injured that they were taken by an Emergency Medical Helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Among those injured was a female pedestrian waiting for the school bus and two kids who were in a Mini-van. In total, there were some fifteen people injured in the multi vehicle crash.

It is believed that a semi-trailer truck rear ended two cars stopped behind a school bus transporting eight children who had just finished school at the Miller County Head Start program.

Tow Truck Kills 11 Year Old Girl In Atlanta

An 11 year old girl, Alexis Allen, was struck and killed Friday by a tow truck while she was crossing the street on the way to school after getting off a Marta bus. The pedestrian accident occurred in the early morning. According to witnesses, the young girl was in the middle of the cross walk when the tow truck driver, Cirilo Figueroa, pulled around the bus and hit the girl, propelling her several feet into the air.

The girl died at the scene and unfortunately the mother witnessed everything. The tow truck driver claimed that he did not realize initially that he had struck the girl. The driver may face hit and run charges as it is alleged that he drove around the block after the pedestrian accident and then came back.

A wrongful death lawsuit is sure to follow.

Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against Driver

The family of a teenager has filed a wrongful lawsuit against a female driver who ran into the young man while he was running with friends in the Chicago land area. Following the pedestrian accident, the driver, Desiree Britt, was cited for, among other things, possession of drug material and marijuana. Ms. Britt, according to records, has a criminal history that includes convictions for other traffic related offenses and battery.

The wrongful death lawsuit is expected to wind its way through the civil justice system and the family of the killed runner will, in all likelihood, take the case to trial, if the matter cannot be settled. It is unknown what type of insurance coverage the at fault party has and what kind of assets she has to pay towards any judgment.
